MARP Has A New Name!

Our Intercultural and Interfaith insights project was part of the Multiculturalism and Anti-racism program; that’s why we called it MARP! Over the last 13 months we’ve completed our two initiatives and feel confident that we met all of our project goals. Our new online training course is called Building Bridges of Care: Foundations for Intercultural Pregnancy Support. It is the culmination of our research and learning.

Building Bridges of Care: Foundations for Intercultural Pregnancy Support

Building Bridges of Care:

Foundations for Intercultural Pregnancy Support

This project was dedicated to understanding the cultural and religious dimensions of pregnancy and pregnancy related loss, birth, and the postpartum season. We researched traditions, expectations, stigmas, and norms surrounding these milestones in the lives of the diverse families we serve. Building Bridges of Care is about equipping our team, as well as other care providers, with the knowledge and skills they need to deliver culturally sensitive and respectful care for everyone.

Project Goals

  • Increase Cultural Sensitivity in care practices
  • Improve Communication between clients and providers
  • Reduce Support Disparities
  • Strengthen Community Engagement & Trust
  • Promote Ethical & Inclusive Practices

  • We conducted over 55 hours of interviews with women and various faith leaders
  • Our community surveys collected over 300 responses and provided us with population sample-size relevant data
  • We hosted 3 focus groups to ensure we were on track and to avoid blind spots in our understanding
Creating Cultural Safety - Learning how to make a space for everyone!
  • We surveyed our own clients that represent 10 different faith communities
  • Our training includes up to date reading, references, cultural framework theories and approaches
  • We’ve helped you connect the dots between research and your centre’s cultural context
